--->Nilotica Shea Butter
At SheaPet, we use Nilotica Shea Butter exclusively. It is certified ORGANIC and is a FAIR TRADE product. It is wild-gathered and cold-pressed by cooperatives run by Ugandan and Sudanese women. Access to new markets has dramatically increased household incomes and reinforced the conservation of the shea tree in these areas. Sales of SheaPet products help sustain these cooperatives and support FAIR TRADE.

--->Shea Butter
Nilotica Shea Butter is extracted from the nut of the shea tree indigenous
to the Nile Basin in Central and Eastern Africa. Trade in shea butter
dates back to Cleopatra's Egypt and shea has been used throughout Africa
as a traditional remedy for thousands of years.
Shea butter is sought after for its therapeutic properties and as a rich
moisturizer for extremely dry and irritated skin. It is highly effective
for treating many common skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and
rosecea in humans. Shea butter can also reduce wrinkles from photo-aging,
improve skin complexion, and heal minor ailments such as sunburn, small
wounds, and cracked skin.

--->ORGANIC Certification
Over 2,000 women of the Northern Uganda Shea Processors Association (NUSPA) finished the rigorous organic certification process. With the new
organic certification, NUSPA shea butter products will be able to compete
globally in the natural products market.
NUSPA received certification in the fall of 2006, after a long training
process with The Shea Project, and an inspection with Ugo
Cert on behalf of CERES and the Uganda National Bureau of Standards.
CERES is one of the world's most respected organic certification bodies
based in Germany.
